In addition to writing, I continue to play the trombone. I've always had eclectic tastes in music. As a High School student, I studied with jazz legend Phil Wilson, and Boston Symphony principal trombonist, Ronald Barron. As you can see from my schedule to the left, I continue to perform in a wide variety of musical settings, from brass ensembles to blues bands. Over the years, I've been priviledged to play with famous artists, such as the O'Jays, The Funk Brothers, Frankie Valli and Wayne Newton. I've played historic venues, like Symphony Hall and the Hatch Shell, and travelled to Greece and Italy to perform. I always enjoy new playing situations, looking forward to the challenges of reading, improvising and contributing in any way that suits the situation. Like most instrumentalists, I'm also an experienced teacher and clinician. I've presented clinics on trombone performance, improvisation, transcription and music technology. I've served as an adjudicator for All-State and District Festivals as well as recital comptitions. I teach a small number of select students at my home. |
