Bob Holfelder's eclectic musical interests were apparent early in his life. While still in High Scool he studied with jazz legend Phil Wilson, and Boston Symphony principal trombonist, Ronald Barron. This versatility has helped him become a very active freelance trombonist. During a typical week you will find him playing with a big band in Worcester, a brass quintet in Woonsocket, a wedding band in Woods Hole, a brass band in West Bridgewater, and in a pit orchestra in Weston. He has performed with many of the famous artists whose names appear on nearly every other horn player's resume.

Mr. Holfelder is also in demand as an arranger. He has written nearly 700 arrangements for 3-6 horns and rhythm, as well as many brass quintets and trios, trombone quartets and big band charts. Most are available on this site.

Bob is also an experienced teacher and clinician. He presents clinics on trombone performance, improvisation, transcription and music technology. He has served as an adjudicator for Massachusetts All-State and District Festivals as well as recital comptitions. He teaches a small number of select students at his home studio.
